APTA’s Center for Transportation Excellence Praises President Biden’s American Jobs Plan
Plan provides much-needed funding to transform public transit across the country
Washington, D.C. – APTA’s Center for Transportation Excellence applauds President Biden for introducing The American Jobs Plan. With over $621 billion for transportation infrastructure and resilience, the plan is the most significant federal infrastructure investment in generations and would greatly increase public transit funding.
Over the last few years, communities have found unique and innovative ways to invest in and expand their public transportation systems. But local funding for public transportation alone cannot meet the need for transformational investment in America’s mobility infrastructure. President Biden’s American Jobs Plan would create a springboard for communities across the country – urban and rural – to transform the ways we get around. It’s a visionary plan that approaches the modern mobility ecosystem as interconnected, recognizing that American communities can be more livable, equitable, and sustainable.
From buses to rail to rising technologies like electric and autonomous vehicles, this comprehensive plan would help create an interconnected, multimodal transportation system for the 21st century.
APTA’s Center for Transportation Excellence supports state and local communities in their partnership to work with President Biden and Congress to pass The American Jobs Plan, and looks forward to helping communities across the country plan how to use this generational investment in conjunction with state and local funding streams to transform their local public transportation systems.
