The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit agency earlier announced plans to place a two-county, quarter-cent sales tax measure (Measure R) on the November ballot to fund passenger rail service from Cloverdale to Larkspur. The system is expected to cost $340 million to build and $10 million to $12 million a year to operate and maintain. A supermajority of combined county votes is required to pass this measure.
